I am a law
enforcement professional, recently retired after thirty four
years of service. Prior to my law enforcement career, I
served eight years in the military. In both of these jobs
I used knives for many purposes, both on the job and during
recreational activities. After I read about Mike and the
knives he makes, in one of the knife magazines I read
monthly, I ordered a couple of different models. Once I
received these knives, I put them to work hunting, camping,
and skinning deer. I think Mike's knives are two of the
finest knives I have ever used in the field, they hold there
edge and look great regardless of how hard I work them. His
product is pure quality, from the steel to the sheath. I am
proud to own knives made by Mike, they are standouts in my
knife collection.

Beach County Sheriff's Office

I have known
Michael for close to four years. From the day we met at the show
in Wilmington Oh, I have been challenging him to make me some
sort of custom knife. Some of which I think he would have rather
not taken on. But he accepted the challenge. I tend to prefer
small knives, even as small as five inches, and Michael has
never disappointed me. He has made me everything from beautiful
polished ivory and buffalo horn to rams horn. All of my knives
have started out as a drawing by myself,
or an idea of his, then we talk on the phone many times, until
together we create a knife that we are both proud to display,
and most of mine are daily users. Then we start on a custom
sheath with accents of lizard, and tooling which his wife and
daughter sometime have a hand in, until a premium sheath is
finished to compliment the custom knife. All of Michael’s knives
are of top notch quality, that I feel
are comparable to any of the makers out there, from ATS 34 to
stainless Damascus, and virtually any type handle material. It
seems since we met there has not been a time that I
am not on his
waiting list for something, actually I am on that list as I
write this letter waiting for a matching pair in a custom clutch
wallet. Waiting for that phone call from Michael that a
knife is ready,
is like waiting for Santa at Christmas.
Customer and
above all good friend, friend,

The knives that [Michael] makes are of exceptional quality. After purchasing my first one from
[him] I was so satisfied and delighted with the fit and finish. I knew after that I was going to be a regular customer.
[His] talent and dedication to detail are very evident in [his] work. [Michael's] knives give me great pleasure. I have six and am looking forward to number seven (on order).

I own 16 of Michael's knives. Each one
is better than all the rest, because each one is unique. I
urge you NOT to buy one of Michael's brochure knives
(only two of my 16 are brochure knives). Rather, call him
and work with him to design your own, special, unique,
custom-made knife. You WILL NOT be disappointed! Custom
knife makers are "good people," and Michael is one of the
best I have had the privilege and pleasure of knowing and
working with.
Mike Tuszka, Oakton, Virginia
P. S., Michael's knives are SHARP, too,
so be careful!
P. P. S., Michael's sheaths are works of
art, and are worth the price of the knife alone.

The first time I purchased knives from
Michael O'Machearley I told him I was a dealer and was buying
the knives for resale. A few years have passed since then and I
have only sold 2 knives to friends. The others I have placed in
my private collection because I just couldn't bring myself to
part with any more of them.

I first met Michael by phone after reading
an article in Knives Illustrated magazine about his 17 Soul
Knife honoring his son, Sgt. Steven Daniel Conover, a fallen
soldier. I finally located Michael and called him and ordered
the 17 Soul knife. I now own 10 of Michael’s knives and have one
on order.
I have collected knives for several years
and have found that the custom knives made by Michael are right
up there at the top. Not only are the blades and handles of the
finest quality and workmanship but he also makes his own sheaths
which are a work of art. Michael is the “complete” custom
knifemaker.
Over the last few years Michael has become
a great personal friend and mentor. I have been fortunate to be
able to spend time in his shop and learn from him the art of
custom knifemaking. Michael is a great teacher and skilled maker.
I appreciate the relationship of collector
and maker with Michael but more so the personal friendship.
Michael is truly “a moon…. reflecting the Son”.
